雷や稲妻を、主に曲折した直線で表現した文様で「雷文」と呼ばれることもあります。能で荒々しい役柄を演じる際に身につけられてきたようで、桃山時代以降の能装束に多く見られる文様です。渦巻を四角形で表現した雷文もありますが、こちらは古くから中国にある文様です。
